Welcome to Capital Hideaway! As we plan for our retirement, we've envisioned purchasing a home near the trail to help others experience the wonderful joy of biking and all the beautiful things Jefferson City has to offer! While this initially seemed out of reach, we are so incredibly grateful that this property recently became available, fitting our vision perfectly. We truly hope guests visiting town will find our rental and love being so close to the Katy Trail, the Capitol, and other local attractions.
Shannon is happily retired from the Navy and I love running my bookkeeping business that I started in 1999. With six amazing kids and two grandkids, we learned firsthand that short-term rentals were always the perfect fit for our big family when we travel. Over the years, we've also loved traveling with dear friends and sharing houses that give us our own bedrooms alongside wonderful common areas to cook and hang out together. Back in 2024, we bought e-bikes and fell completely in love with visiting new places to ride—and the Katy Trail quickly became one of our absolute favorites! Whenever we adventure out, we look for cozy houses right near the trail to spend a couple of days exploring together, and we just can't wait to share this passion with you!
Once we secured the property, we needed to name the company and establish our online presence. Our first domain choice was close to $50,000 to purchase, and our second choice was also a bit too expensive. Finally, we happily settled on Capital Hideaway LLC, where the domain was available at regular pricing!
We moved forward and registered the business with the IRS and the state. The very next day, my son discovered that the domain previously belonged to a gentleman’s club in New York City that closed during Covid. It was a bit too late to change it by that point, so we now just share a laugh and love telling the story!
I wanted to share this on our “About” page because if you Google our name, you may still find references to the former club or a resort in another country. We hope that as we gather more positive reviews from wonderful guests like you, our site will become the primary search result. Until then, we just smile and keep moving forward, focused entirely on helping you find a clean, comfortable, and welcoming place to stay.
